Healthy eye care starts with regular eye examinations. We pride ourselves on being careful, thorough and patient. We continually invest in state–of–the–art equipment and training so that you can be confident in our skills and ability to take the most careful care of your eyes and vision. Whether it’s new eyeglasses or contact lenses, or special testing for dry eyes, allergies, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes or macular degeneration, you can trust our expertise
As a private multi–doctor optometric practice, we always have an optometrist on call–24 hours a day, 365 days a year! Rather than visiting an emergency room where you may wait for hours, and probably not be seen by an eye doctor, you’ll receive prompt attention by an eye expert. Red and painful eyes are always a priority with us! Call us! We'll fit you in right away!
We have all the latest styles of eyeglass frames and lenses including ultra–thin lenses, invisible progressive bifocal lenses, and all the special eyeglass lens coatings. Our well trained, licensed opticians know how to help you select eyeglass frames and lenses that will provide you the best vision, best appearance and best value! We also have safety and occupational eyeglasses to meet your most demanding needs.
Your contact lenses should give you clear and comfortable vision and keep your eyes healthy and safe. We pride ourselves on knowing how to fit the most challenging cases–over–night (extended wear) contacts, bifocal contacts, contact lenses for astigmatism, keratoconus and corneal scars. We offer specialty contact lenses for dry eye difficulties, color change, sports vision and very high refractive errors. Often individuals, who have been told that they could not wear contact lenses, have been successfully fit in our offices. If there’s a way for you to wear contacts, we’ll find it!
Sharp vision is one of many keys to a child’s healthy and normal development. And early detection of eye problems can be very important in insuring the visual health of your child. The optometrists at Academy Eye Associates are experienced in using special testing techniques and equipment to provide eye exams for young children. They can detect and treat pediatric vision problems such as amblyopia, strabismus, cataracts, and glaucoma. We follow, in association with pediatricians, many vision threatening visual disorders including Hurler’s Syndrome, Adrenal Leukodystrophy, Sanfillipo Disease, albinism, nystagmus, and developmental delays.
At Academy Eye Associates, our eye doctors continuously monitor all the refractive surgery procedures available, including LASIK, LASEK, Phakic intra–ocular lenses to This allows our optometrists to be able to advise our patients appropriately about their refractive surgery options and prognosis. We are certified to co–manage refractive surgery patients, and are well versed in managing any complications that may arise. We work closely with all the refractive surgeons in the Triangle area.
