A native of Central Ohio, Dr. David L. Kroninger earned a Master of Science in microbiology before deciding to pursue a career in optometry. He received his doctorate in optometry in 1982 from The Ohio State University. He continued his training with a residency program focused on geriatric care at the VA Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Kroninger was a contact lens consultant and instructor of contact lenses at The Ohio State University College of Optometry.
Dr. Kroninger is a member of both the North Carolina Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. In addition he is a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the international optometry honorary fraternity.
In 1983 Dr. Kroninger entered into private practice in Chapel Hill, NC. He became affiliated with Academy Eye Associates in 1994. In his practice today he continues to specialize in contact lenses, geriatric care, treatment of eye diseases and laser vision correction.
Dr. Kroninger lives just south of Chapel Hill, with his wife Jane. In his avocation, he has become an accomplished local sculptor in both stone and metal and wood. He is also an avid hiker, skier, bicyclist and tennis player.
