Dr. Dale Stewart received his degree in Optometry from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1978. A past Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, he completed his post-doctoral fellowship in Low Vision/Rehabilitation Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. Accepting an appointment there as Assistant Professor, he was Director of the Low Vision Rehabilitation Service. Dr. Stewart left teaching in 1983 to enter private practice in Durham, and joined Academy Eye Associates in 1989. Professional interests and experience include Low Vision Rehabilitation, and specialty contact lens work in keratoconus, and post-surgical corneas. A member of many professional and civic organizations, Dr. Stewart was recognized with Durham’s Distinguished Service Award in 1994 for his ongoing service to Durham County.
