HealthDay (6/24, Reinberg) reported that "diabetes appears to double the risk of dying from a heart attack, stroke, or other heart condition," according to a study published in The Lancet. In the study, which included data on nearly 700,000 people, investigators "found that having diabetes nearly doubled the risk of suffering from various diseases involving the heart and blood vessels. But this risk was only partially due to the usual culprits -- cholesterol, blood pressure, and obesity," one of the researchers "said."
